 Welcome to SHM's Religious School

"Educate a child in the way he/she should go…” Proverbs 22:6

This is how I believe we should approach Jewish education.  I want to meet our children where they are.  What are they interested in?  What TV shows do they watch?  What inspires them?  What is their favorite baseball team?  What after school activities do they take part in?  If we don’t know our students, how can we inspire them about Judaism?  We need to educate our children in their own way.  We all learn in different ways.  We need to teach a child how to be Jewish through different means, whether it is oral, auditory, or kinesthetic interactions.  My goal is for our students to leave our school every day with a smile on their faces, having learned something new, excited to be Jewish and looking forward to their next class!!

Jewish education is about creating Jewish memories that will last throughout our lives.  I view parents as my partners in educating their children.  My hope is to work with you in order to bridge what is done in the classroom into your home.  I want you to be a part of your child’s experience and to learn with him/her.  Jewish memories are created in the classroom, in youth group, in family camp Sundays, in Rabbi/Parent study and more!  Together, we can continue to create more Jewish memories for our children and for our families!

Throughout their years at Shir Ha-Ma’alot, I want to inspire our children to learn and grow as Jews as well as help them develop a strong sense of comfort at the synagogue and build their relationships with their Rabbis, Cantor and Educators.  Through innovative programming, dynamic, interactive teachers and families with a willingness to learn, I am sure our Religious School will continue to grow with creative, fun and ground-breaking educational programs.

My door is always open.  Please feel free to come speak to me about the Religious School at any time or send me an email by clicking here.
