Education Programs for Tots through Adults
Shir Ha-Ma'alot is dedicated to providing the best learning programs available to our congregants.  Our education program is the “jewel” of our congregation.  We believe in providing an environment where students of all ages will be engaged in the learning process, feel passionate about being Jewish and are encouraged to apply what they learn into their own lives.

Religious School offers a wide variety of programs for you and your family, beginning with Torah Time for Tots continuing through 12th Grade.  Through dynamic, innovative teachers, music, dance, and more, our students are engaged in their Jewish journey or learning and exploration.

Torah Time for Tots, our Jewish Mommy/Daddy & Me program, and Pre-Kindergarten explores the Jewish holidays through interactive, experiential learning.

Kindergarten through 2nd grade, meets on Sunday mornings and centers around Jewish holidays, Torah stories, Jewish values, God and the Hebrew letters as well as an extended home component to help bridge what is done in the classroom into the home.

3rd through 6th grades study Judaica on Sundays focusing on God, Torah, Israel, Prophets, Jewish Lifecycle and Jewish ethics.  On Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons, our students study Hebrew through our self-paced prayer curriculum, Mitkadem.  Music, dance and art help enrich the classroom experience.

7th graders are engaged on Sunday mornings focusing on Mitzvot and Jewish ethics.  Our Post-B’nai Mitzvah students (8th & 9th grade students) meet twice a month for a special Pre-Confirmation program.  Confirmation takes place in 10th grade with an opportunity to continue studying with the Rabbi in 11th & 12th grades.

Youth Programs  We offer three programs for children, 5th through 12th grade, consisting of social, religious, and cultural programming which takes place in an informal and fun setting.  Participating in Jewish youth groups is an important way in which Jewish children create a positive connection with the Jewish people and Jewish tradition, as well as a fun way to celebrate being Jewish!

Parent & Family Education is offered throughout the year.  From our grade level Family Camp Sundays, to our Parent/Rabbi Study to our Family Retreat, the partnership between the synagogue and the parents in educating our children continues to flourish.

SHM Adult Education includes a plethora of classes and opportunities for learning, being inspired and meeting new people.  From our Adult B’nai Mitzvah class to our Advanced Adult Confirmation program to our monthly adult education classes, there is something for all of the adults in our congregation to continue to expand their Jewish knowledge.

We are proud to accomodate students with special needs in all of our education programs.
