Welcome to Congregation Shir Ha-Ma'alot (SHM)!
Come take a tour of SHM… on Sundays our religious school is full of eager minds learning all aspects of Jewish life and spirituality... the social hall is filled with parents noshing on bagels and forming Jewish friendships... in the Sanctuary music fills the air from the youth and adult choirs and the SHM temple musicians... adults are studying Torah for their B’nai Mitzvah... and seniors are discussing the latest Jewish film. In the Rabbi’s study a family is comforted and supported during a mourning period... while the Social Action committee reaches out to those less fortunate and gives tzadekah.
Belonging to Shir Ha-Ma'alot is like having an extended family - where we pray, sing, learn, laugh and support one another! Our membership reflects a wide variety of perspectives, religious and cultural backgrounds. We welcome Jews from all backgrounds. There is a place for everyone at Shir Ha-Ma'alot. We strive to serve the needs of singles and families, young and not-so-young, empty nesters, special needs, Jews of all races, Jews-by-choice, intermarried, unaffiliated, and those searching for a more meaningful Jewish life.
In 2008, Shir Ha-Ma’alot celebrated 40 years of being a vibrant, progressive and Reform Jewish community affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. Our SHM family has grown to over 600 members and enjoys more than 400 programs/activities including a broad set of worship experiences, educational opportunities, and religious and community outreach programs.
