Shabbat of Creation: Fuel Freedom Foundation
Friday, October 12 at 7:30 pm
Created by SHM members Eyal Aronoff and Yossi Hollander, the Fuel Freedom Foundation is dedicated to lessening America's dependence on imported oil, by substituting cheaper, homemade American oil. Join us on this Shabbat of Creation (parashat Bereshit) to learn from these accomplished and dedicated men about how to protect creation, and how you can make a difference by getting involved in this ongoing effort.
Honoring Our Veterans
Friday, November 9 at 7:30 pm
We will honor those of all ages who have served their country as men and women in uniform. Worship with us as we give a blessing to these brave souls. If you are a veteran, please contact us.
Chardonnay Shabbat
sponsored by SHM Brotherhood
Friday, January 11th at 6:30 pm
In Judaism, the fruit of the vine, wine (or grape juice), represents the sweetness of life. Join us before services to say goodbye to the week that was, while focusing on the sweetness to come on Shabbat. We will have the opportunity to toast one another with Chardonnay (and maybe even some red wine) and experience the fullness of Shabbat.
Hot Challah Club
Come just a few minutes before services to nourish your body as well as your soul. We invite people of all ages to make a challah and while you are at services, the challah will bake. As you leave for home after the Oneg Shabbat, you will have a fresh challah to enjoy for the Sabbath.

Torah Readers’ Club
You can perform the Mitzvah of reading from the sacred scroll during a Friday night Shabbat service. Whether you are a recent Bar/Bat Mitzvah or if it was fifty years ago, we invite you to become a part of this special club and to help enhance our worship at SHM. To become a part of this special group, contact Rabbi Lewis at llewis@shmtemple.org.
Mentsch of the Quarter
Making Mentschs is one of the four “M’s” of our Purpose Statement. We will recognize one person every quarter as the Mentsch of the Quarter. His/her picture will be displayed in the front of the Temple and the Rabbi will bless him/her at a Shabbat service. If you would like to nominate someone for the Mentsch of the Quarter, please contact Rabbi Steinberg.
