TZEDAKAH COIN PICK-UP PROGRAM

Tzedakah is a mitzvah, a commandment. Many of us grew up bringing a few coins into Religious School to put in the class Tzedakah box. We know it is harder to find a few coins than it used to be, and we came up with a creative solution to allow this value to continue on, even in a world where spare change isn't found under the couch cushion the way it used to be. You can fill out this form, essentially paying your tzedakah upfront online, and we'll have the coins for your child(ren) to pick up each Sunday morning!


What do we do with the Tzedakah we collect?

At SHM's Religious School, our 7th Graders spend all year learning about how to find organizations in line with their beliefs and then present their findings to us on the last day of school at our Mitzvah Fair. Each student gets to vote for where they think the money we've raised should go and then we calculate those percentages and send the respective percentage of money we gathered to those organizations. We are proud to carry on this tradition with students feeling like they contributed to the money we are giving.


We believe that this will allow you to have a convenient way to pass on this cherished Jewish value. We'll send instructions about how each student will pick up their coins to bring to the classroom's tzedakah box in September.
