SHMaltz Youth Band
Included in Chai School Tuition | Grades7-12

SHMaltz, named after the Yiddish term for ‘excessive sentimentality’, is our youth band for middle and high schoolers. Meeting on the 2nd/4th Tuesdays as a part of chai school from 7:15-8:15pm, students bring their instruments and play music arranged by our Cantor. The band will learn and perform favorite Shabbat and holiday songs, giving our youth a unique Jewish musical experience. SHMaltz will perform twice a year, enhancing our Friday services with their talent. 

Led by Cantor Iris Karlin and anyone grades 7-12 can join!


"SHMaltz" Youth Band plays two select Shabbat Services in the year. 

Rehearsals are every 2nd/4th Tuesdays of Chai School in place of their chug (elective) from 7:15-8:15pm. The enrolled student will still attend their Chai School Core class from 6:30-7:15pm before Youth Band.
